WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA*,
* On behalf of all plants, animals, rivers, mountains of this land
And on behalf of all our forefathers and our future generations,having solemnly resolved to constitute India**
**as a decentralized collective of groups, tribes, villages, towns and a few citiesinto a SOVEREIGN,***
***but interdependentSOCIALIST,*****
*****caring, inclusive and lovingSECULAR ,#
#But never sterile

DEMOCRATIC##
##at every level with Swaraj

REPUBLIC ###
### Unfettered from corporate and military interests

and to secure to all its citizens@,
@plants, animals, rivers, forests, mountains and future generations:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political@@;

@@in a timely, prompt and empathetic manner

LIBERTY of thought , expression, belief, faith and worship@@@;

@@@as well as the maturity to honour these freedoms

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity+;

+With consideration to our historic imperfections

and to promote among them all

FRATERNITY ++

++ While preserving its rich diversity

assuring the dignity of the individual+++

+++by intending to providing a basic income to cover food, clothing and shelter

and the unity and integrity of the Nation^;

^never by force and always by dialogue and the willingness to walk together

IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.
